Job description

The energy transition in Europe can and should speed up, that’s how we look at this at iwell. As market leader we set the tone with intelligent batteries. We prevent congestion on the electricity grid. At iwell we collect a lot of data about our batteries. But how can we use them as sustainably and smartly as possible? To figure this out we are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join our Data Team.

Are you that bright mind who will make our batteries even smarter? You develop the logic which our software engineers will integrate in our systems. Through this you have a sustainable impact on our energy system. You will be working on optimizing the configuration of our batteries, and will build on the virtual power plant that is created with our batteries. You will be working in an experienced team in which you will be challenged. A steep learning curve is guaranteed.

Team

As a Data Scientist, you will work with our other Data Scientists as part of the Data Team.  As well as the standard responsibilities of a Data Team (like providing data and insights for the company), we also design and implement systems for optimising battery usage for our clients. These systems range from control-theory based algorithms that directly guide the batteries to statistical and machine learning based services that inform how the battery makes decisions and so much more in between.

Tasks

For this role, you will play a crucial role in analyzing usage data from our battery systems and connected peripherals, such as heat pumps, charging stations, and solar installations. We are looking for a talented individual who can provide insights and develop innovative solutions to enhance the performance of our systems through data analysis and machine learning models.

Of course modeling, simulating batteries, energy systems and building proof of concepts for optimizing energy flows are a part of this role as well as anything else you may come up with along the way. We embrace creativity here so new ideas are always welcome!

Job requirements

  • You like working in an environment with continuous change
  • You have at least 2 years of experience in a similar role

  • We use InfluxDB and Airflow so experience with these would be a plus. Similarly, any experience and knowledge of data engineering and/or ETL pipelines in general would similarly be a plus.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems or sustainable energy is appreciated
