Job Summary

Over the past eight years, iwell has been dedicated to optimizing behind-the-meter energy flows by integrating our proprietary Energy Management System (EMS) software with our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) hardware. By intelligently managing energy production and consumption—including solar PV, EV charging, and battery storage—we enable businesses to balance their energy profiles and reduce peak demand. Where applicable, we unlock additional revenue potential through participation in wholesale and balancing energy markets, tailored to each individual site.

iwell has built a broad and diverse client portfolio, spanning various use cases, battery configurations, and geographical locations. Each site presents its own unique set of constraints and opportunities. Through localized optimization and targeted energy trading, we maximize the value of each installation. Our next strategic step is the development of the iwell Virtual Power Plant (VPP): a platform for aggregating and monetizing the flexibility of our entire battery portfolio.

As a Business Case Developer at iwell, you are responsible for developing and validating investable business cases for our clients. You translate complex energy concepts into clear, actionable proposals. Your strength lies in combining technical insight with commercial strategy to design innovative, high-impact solutions tailored to each client’s energy profile and objectives.

Working closely with our sales teams, you are not directly responsible for closing deals—but you are essential in enabling them. Your ability to communicate technical and financial complexity in plain, compelling language sets you apart.

To lead these efforts, we are seeking an experienced Business Case Developer with deep expertise in local energy optimization and energy trading. You bring hands-on experience from the Belgian energy markets and a strong understanding of how to bridge client needs with dynamic energy opportunities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the sales team with customer specific business cases that lead to investment decisions.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including sales, legal (energy contracts) and technical experts, to ensure the right advice.

  • Create and validate new solid business cases using analytical models to support growth strategies of potential customers.

  • Using market developments and emerging trends to fuel product development from a market and customer perspective.


Requirements 

  • Master degree in a relevant field such as Business, Engineering, or Sustainability.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in business development within the sustainable energy sector.

  • Extensive knowledge on the different dimensions (IT, Financial, legal) of Belgian energy markets and energy flexibility.

  • Experience in creating and implementing successful business cases and commercial strategies.

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive and result-oriented approach.

  • A fluency in English; a fluency in Dutch would be a plus.
